Yo Trieu

3 years ago, comedian and host of the show, Yo Trieu founded Fraser Valley Comedy, a place where local and Vancouver comedians could develop and showcase their comedic skills. After playing in smaller pubs and bars across Chilliwack and the Fraser Valley, he joined together with our team here at Chances Chilliwack and Trevor McDonald to start what is now our monthly comedy competition.

The Well at Chances Chilliwack was the perfect place for the Fraser Valley Comedy Competition to move to and grow. With one of the most modern set-ups for performers in Chilliwack, it’s a dream venue for the show! But, the best part is that there is no cover. Don’t travel downtown or pay high-ticket prices; instead come to The Well for our free stand-up comedy show.

This month we’ve got a special show lined up. Fraser Valley Comedy is proud to present Pro-Am Comedy Night with professional headlining comic will be Patrick Maliha! He holds the world record holder for most impressions in one minute. His act has been described as Ray Romano meets 21s century Don Rickles. Not only does Patrick hold a world record, he is also a writer for the Netflix show Mystery Science 3000. Patrick co-hosted The Afternoon Buzz every Monday to Friday on Talk 1410 Radio for which he won numerous awards including, Favorite Afternoon Radio Show. His love of television and film has led him to become a voting member of the Vancouver Film Critics Circle, one half of “The Movie Guys” on the TV show Urban Rush, Head Writer and Producer for the KVOS television show “Off Centre Television,” host of “UR at The Movies,” and the nationally syndicated television show “The New Driver’s Seat”.

A professional stand-up comedian and talented impressionist, Patrick has Headlined and MC’ed various shows at a multitude of comedy clubs, festivals, and corporate events throughout Canada and the U.S. In 2008 and 2009 he was voted Favorite Vancouver Comedian in the prestigious Georgia Straight ‘Best Of’ Awards and has been featured on CBC radio, XM and Sirius satellite radio’s various comedy programs. His one-hour Comedy Now special aired in the fall of 2011 on both CTV and The Comedy Network.

In addition to an awesome co-host, we’ve got a great line up of comedians including Cari Norton Moore, Hector Rivas, Robert Peng and James Idol. This show is one night only, so make sure you’ve got January 25th at 8:30pm marked on your calendars.
